Are we talking the German 'verklemmt' here as in repressed/uptight? If not, what does 'verklempt' mean?

Verklempt - choked with emotion (German verklemmt = emotionally inhibited in a convulsive way)

Hope this is what Anne meant. LOL My mind was blocked on a scene stopped by to see if something would jump start it by today's word. Verklempt helped alot!!
'emotionally inhibited in a convulsive way'. I was with you up to convulsive. :)
Naturally, not all native speakers use words the same way (hence all the lovely misunderstandings), but I have to admit I don't think I'd have ever come up with the 'convulsive' part. The things we learn about our mother tongues... :)

She was so verklempt she wasn’t sure what to say. He had been so vague when he called her over to his apartment that night. He refused to give her any details just told her to get over to his place for dinner. Then he said the three words that brought her world crashing down around her. He wasn’t supposed to love her damnit. She hadn’t seduced him to hear those words. She had just wanted to fuck him and walk away, just like he had done to her back in college.
She stared at him, speechless. Those three little words had been so important to her back then. But not now, not after she had gotten over him. Now it was all about revenge. Staring into his dark green eyes, so full of emotion she just stood there, not sure if she should lie and say the words back.
She turned her back on him so he wouldn’t see how panicked she was. She scrambled to think of something, anything to say. She didn’t want to lie to him but what else could she do? A plan formed in her mind. Whirling around she beamed up at him, taking his hands into hers giving them a squeeze she pulled him toward her.
“Show me baby. Show me that you love me. Fuck me right now.”
His mouth hung open before he finally found his voice, “I tell you I love you and you want to fuck?”
LOL. Love it Selena! I was so determined to have a go this week (until line edits turned up) but I don't think I could better this. Very VERY well done! :o)
