This, That, and the Other Thing

Yeah! After four days of mostly rain, things are looking up here in the northwest. Yeah, yeah, NW means rain, right. But not so much in June. It's suppose to hit 80 tomorrow and go up from there so look out garden!

Yep, as you can tell, the weather controls me in many ways.

I came up with the This, That, and the Other Thing for a title because what I thought I'd be blogging about this morning has taken a 90 degree turn. The reason: to keep it simple, I hope you'll take a quick gander at http://www.examiner.com/x-5288-Salt-Lake-City-Romance-Novels-Examiner~y2009m6d13-Welcome-Romance-Lovers--Hot-Romance-author-Vonna-Harper-is-with-us-this-morning Less than a week ago, I answered a bunch of interview questions for http://www.examiner.com/ and thought it would be weeks if not months before Fran had time to work me into her interview schedule. I was wrong and I love the result. Pimping our books is part and parcel of what it means to be a writer these days, and although I'm far from a pro at it, I really love what Fran accomplished.

Next up, I'm still stoked about Storm Howl even though its been out for a couple of weeks. What truly has touched my hopefully creative juices is that on the exact same day SH hit the web, my Loose-id editor emailed to let me know she's sending me a contract for Wind Howl, the second story in the Howl series about a pack of paranormal wolves and the humans they touch. I dig wolves. I really, really dig the wilderness. And I truly dig writing hot sex, and that's what the Howl series is about.

Finally, and unrelated to erotica is a book I just finished reading that I want to recommend to anyone whose life is touched by Alzheimer's disease. My sister sent Still Alice by Lisa Genova to me after she read and cried over it. We suspect that our mother has dementia, not Alzheimer's. Just the same, I felt as if I was reading Mother's story as I buried myself in the story of a university professor undone by early onset Alzheimer's. Lisa Genova has a Ph.D in neuroscience and is an online columnist for the National Alzheimer's Association so drew on her experience when writing from Alice's point of view. I believe I now have a clearer picture of what takes place and doesn't take place within my mother's mind. A remarkable read!
