Writing and Rambling--What fun!!!!

Hey all,

It's CJ again. Still here in Singapore and it looks as if we'll be here at least until May 6th. I'm loving it here. It's such a rich diverse culture with so many new things to see and experience.

I've got myself on a schedule. I get up with Jonathon and we go down to breakfast. Then once he leaves for work, I go to the pool and swim and work out for 45 minutes. Then I head back up to our apartment and do emails and write for a while. This is the view out my window. Not too shabby, huh? That's our pool on the right. Click on the pic if you want a closer look.

At about 3:30 I leave the apartment so housekeeping can do their thing. (It's rough living in a residence apartment. I'm going to get back home and wonder why my dishes aren't done! LOL) Anyway, I head back down to the pool/patio area and work for a couple hours longer or read or swim if I feel like it. When I know housekeeping is finished, I head back up to the apartment and get ready for one of my rambles.

Other than writing, this is my favorite thing to do here. I pick a place to explore and just go ramble. I've found some amazing things. Museums, heritage centers, parks, food, shopping and a hundred other places and experiences.

But like I said, I always spend the lion share of my day, writing. Since I know we are going to be here a while and I can take time doing the tourist thing, I'm able to go into one of my dreams and do what I love best. And being here only adds to my imagination. Y'all have heard about the Merlion, right? It's one of the symbols of Singapore and the statue sits in the marina spitting water into the harbor below.

Well, from his image came a story I'm working on for Loose Id. It's the story of a woman who has given up all hope of living. It's the tale (pun intended *grin*) of a sea prince who refuses to let her die. How these two stubborn people find love in the middle of their differences is a story that begged to be told. And that is just one of many. If I had the time, I'd do a story for each culture I've come across here. The research alone would be amazing.

And it's the rambles that give me so many ideas. I carry a notebook and am constantly jotting down notes and ideas that strike me. I've been so deep in a dream that I've missed my bus, walked into traffic (not a good idea) and even rambled so far out of the way I had no idea where I was when I surfaced.

I can sit down by the quay and watch the boats and just dream, and often do that when I wait for Jonathon to get home. It's one of the favorite parts of my day. Waiting for my man to get off work, watching people fly their kites over the water and dreaming.

I'm already missing this place and I'm not even gone yet!!!

So there is a look at a typical day in Singapore. I'm doing it all for you, ya know. So I can get the inspiration to write the best books I can! I wouldn't be here otherwise. And if you believe that, I've got the Raffles Bridge here close by to sell you! LOL

Let me know what you think of my rambles, both verbal and physical. *snicker* And don't forget to read my chat blog to see the daily goings on of my time in Singapore!

Hugs,

I think the number one reason you are there is the man you wait for by the boats! LOL All the story ideas are just a bonus! *grin* I love reading about all this stuff CJ! Thanks for sharing, Phylis.
