Summertime fun

While fall is my favorite season, there's something to be said for summer. There's a lot to love about a time when being lazy is just part of the day.

I love cookouts. Days by the pool. 4th of July fireworks. Lightning bugs. Picnics. Sprinklers in the afternoon. The lush trees and flowers. Small summer thunderstorms that rumble but never get wild. The smell of honeysuckle. When I was a kid, we used to go the river a lot in the summer. I loved to put my toes in and let the minnows nibble.

I could go on but you get the point.

What do you enjoy about the summer?

Sitting in my garden room reading, which either sounds nice or geeky. LOL. My garden. Visiting relatives and being able to take advantage of the fact that they live near the seaside. All these things are good. Our wedding anniversary each year and hearing the birds singing for longer. I don't like it too hot, though. I'm actually more a spring and autumn girl.

Ah that sounds wonderful. Especially the seaside.

Fall is really my favorite season but am finding things to appreciate in the summer. I hear you on the heat.

LOL. Michelle! A girl after my own heart. I will never forget the disagreements I had with my father. He'd look at me as if I was mad.

HIM: "What do you mean you like Autumn? It's getting cold then. Who wants to be cold?"

ME: "That's not why I love Autumn. I love other things like the leaves turning. And I never said I want to be cold. I just don't...want to be hot."

He never did understand me. :o)
