I certainly don't think that masturbation scenes are useless or fluff. If a character is so hot for another character that they can't resist a little self-stimulation, I think it enhances the believability of their desire and it makes me wonder what the character will do when they finally do hook up with their mate. Adds to the spice, I think like a bit of cream before the cake.
Couldn't have said it better myself, Mya. Masturbation, if done right, only helps add to the anticipation. Plus its extra hawtness--like an appetizer before the meal.
