Earlier this month, the writing world suffered a loss. Barbara Karmazin passed away after a lengthy battle with breast cancer.
I had the pleasure of knowing Barbara online. I featured her in one of my newsletters. She was a tough, funny, sweet lady. One heck of a writer. I loved her blend of science fiction with erotic romance. Girls Just Wanna Have Fun was an awesome read. It sucked me into that world and was extremely HOT. She could world build like very few can. She was an avid science fiction fan and thought science fiction needed some sex LOL. I can remember her saying something like that.
When a friend of mine lost all her ebooks through a hard drive crash (I think that was how it happened), Barbara sent her some of hers to replace what she'd lost. It was a move of generosity I haven't forgotten and neither has my friend.
Barbara was very encouraging to me when I was just starting out with Loose Id.
When she was diagnosed with cancer, she fought it every step of the way. She never gave up, but met each stage with dignity and fierceness.
I was so very sad to hear she'd passed away. I wish I'd known her better and gotten to meet her. Regardless, I'm glad I knew her. She impacted my life.
Go read an Barbara Karmazin book. You won't be sorry.
