Broken Breaks Out

Thank you for joining me today to celebrate the release of my new m/m erotic romance, Broken, the book that answers the question: What happens when the closeted younger brother of a mob boss falls for the boss's latest acquisition, a rent-boy from Hong Kong?

Broken is now available from Loose Id:

I'm very excited about this book and about sharing with you some of the special events and activities that are going on in connection with it. They include a virtual book tour, a behind the scenes peek at the making of Broken, a special treat for my newsletter members, and a worthy cause I'm hoping you'll want to contribute to. Please read on for all the details!

This post is the second in my virtual book tour, and each date (including this one!) is a chance for you to win a free copy of Broken. Just leave a comment to my blog post, or in the case of a chat, post a message, and you'll be entered to win. Here's my whirlwind schedule:

• Sept. 19, Paths to Publication with Heidi Ruby Miller

• Sept. 21, 8-9 pm, Goodreads M/M Romance Group Chat

• Sept. 22, Tara Lain's Blog

• Sept. 23, Belinda McBride's Blog

• Sept. 28, Random Interview with S. Reesa Herberth & Michelle Moore

• Oct. 1, Kayelle Allen Romance Lives Forever Chat

• Oct. 17, Desert Island Keepers Blog

If you've ever wanted to peek inside an author's brain and see how she puts a book together, well, here's your chance. Every Tuesday and Thursday I'm conducting a quick behind the scenes audio tour of the making of Broken featuring the audio notes I took while working on the book. Check it out here.

And for something a bit more polished, you can check out an audio excerpt of Broken on my newletter group. For more information on my group and how to join, go here.

Finally, I want to introduce you to a wonderful organization called Project Polaris, which takes a comprehensive approach to the problem of human trafficking and modern day slavery. Since Xiu, one of my protags in Broken, is a victim of human trafficking, it feels appropriate to donate a portion of my proceeds from the book's sales to this organization. So, for the first four months of sales, half of what I earn on Broken will be donated to Project Polaris. Please spread the word about this worthwhile organization and its cause.

Thank you again helping me celebrate the release of Broken.

I'll announce the contest winner in the comments at 9 pm tonight. Good luck!

Jessica will be on my blog later this week, and I've posted the story of my friend K, who was/is a victim of human trafficking. I believe Jessica posted the link above. :)

I haven't read Broken yet but got bits and pieces of it while formatting, and I think it's a must-read. Certainly is on my TBR list!

Congratulations on the release! I like your intention to donate to Project Polaris. I think as erotic romance writers we first need to stand by our genre and remember that even though it's erotic, it is still romance, and deliver that happy ending. Second, I also believe that as authors of erotica we need to write responsibly and educate (without preaching) about the problems today's society sees; trafficking, drugs and disease. It's a delicate balance.

Thanks everyone for commenting! I'm having a really nice release day thanks to all of you. :)

I rolled an 8-sided die and it came up 6 so Crystal is the winner!

So Crystal, please drop me a line at jessicafreely@gmail.com and let me know what file format you'd like for the book.

And btw, I agree with you completely that it's a delicate balance when you're dealing with serious issues in a book. You don't want to overwhelm the romance or shortchange the subject.
