Words that disrupt reading
There are a lot of words that throw me right out of my headspace while I'm reading. A couple I see quite often and dislike are: ejaculate and rectum. At least those are the two that pop to mind right this minute. Neither are bad words, but they aren't exactly sexy either. ;)
What are some of your most hated words, or phrases in romance?

I don't have words, but a whole sentence. I was reading a story, although I can't remember the name or author. They were just starting the sex scene and she fondled herself for him, then pushed her thumb in her ass.
The man said, "I'm too big for your ass, but thanks for the show."
What??!!
I'm sorry but that just totally threw me out of the story. That comment to me just seemed so...I don't know, crass?
Interdigitated - what's wrong with saying that they linked fingers/ clasped hands? That throws me right out.
I have to say, it's "penis". I just don't like the word. Never really have.
That said, I can get around the word itself if it's both in context and the rest of the story works. I tend to just substitute the word "cock" for it in my mind :)
O_O "Interdigitated"?! LOL!
OML, Trista ... that would have thrown me, too. What a jerk. And interdigitated? That would have had me scratching my head.
The phrase that caught me lately was the "dark purple head of his rod." Made me think of a cult leader in a ritualistic cape.
Interdigitated??? I'm shaking my head. Yeah, I'd have gotten tossed from the story, too.
And Trista, that would have pulled me right out.
I'm not fond of cunt, but can overlook it if the writing is good enough.
I really do not like manroot. I know it's used in historicals but everytime I see it...it just tugs me right out of the story.
