I think the reality of a penis that big would have me running away, although they are fun to read about. :)

Many years ago, my husband shared a very thin-walled trailer with a guy who probably had a block and tackle about that size.

IMHO, the key to a good blow job (particularly w/ dicks over 6 inches) is integrating it with a good handjob. For some guys, there's a certain porno/advanced skills appeal to the no-hands blow job, but if you keep your hands working on the bottom half and coordinate movements, your jaw/throat doesn't need to do the lion's share of the work, you can pace things like breathing, and you can use things like trying to go deep more as punctuation/flourish than a constant fight to breath/suppress the gag reflex.

My thought is that at least a slightly larger than average size penis is part of the unspoken reader/writer fantasy in romance, whether it be something mainstream or erotic in nature. In a book, it's a big ol' stiff length of fun. In reality, I'd probably break out into nervous hives anticipating having to handle anything bigger than eight inches. In real life, average is just about perfect for me.

I think the old saying of "it's not the size that counts," figures in here. In reality, more than eight or nine inches is tough to handle, especially where BJs are concerned. I did some investigating of my own.
In my search, I came across a paragraph about a canadian study were they had women read erotic passages... the only difference in them was the size of the penis. The larger penis did not rank statistically higher than the others. *shrug*
It seems the average erect penis size is 5.1-5.7 inches in length and 3.5-3.9 inches in girth...
But seeing as how we tend to make our heros larger than life and larger in height and muscular build, I think its okay to make them larger elsewhere. I don't think its necessary to give exact dimensions... readers have wonderful imaginations.

If there is an exact measurment when I am reading, it always pulls me out of the story. Then I get an insane urge to go find a tape measure and see exactly what the size is.
You know how there are always beautiful people in romance, (because we are seeing through the eyes of the character.) I figure that penis size is the same thing. To their partner it is always perfect for what ever reason work for them.
